A priceless Prize...
It was onam season. Many competitions were conducted those days. One of the program was Hindi essay writing. Our Hindi teacher, Surendran came to class and announced if there were more participants. Just for a craze I lifted my hand. He noted my name and said me to write it and give to him. Topic was onam. I was sitting with Faiz. I took a white paper and started to write. Faiz told me important points for it. First I started seriously, later I felt very bored and wrote unnecessary things. It didn't had any relation to the topic. It didn't even follow the basic Hindi grammar too. I completed boasting about Mahabali. I was quite sure it won't even taken to consideration. I went to Surendran sir and submitted my essay.
Days passed by. The assembly was going on. The prizes for different events were being distributed. I had forgotten that I had written an essay. And the result for Hindi essay writing was also announced. First prize goes to Lamya.
The second to Shafeeq Sha. I couldn't believe what they had read. I walked to the stage for the prize. Lamya was returning with her prize and gave me a smile. Proudly I received the prize. There was no third prize. After the assembly with Faiz and other friends I opened my Prize. It was a beautiful fiber glass. I was sure I never deserved it.
I enquired about it and found the truth. There were only three participants. The other was Saritha who got disqualified for copying as such from the Hindi text book. I could feel that it was a prize for my faithfulness.
