On the Stadium
We reached very early. Said Rajesh. The bus was passing through the Ernakulam city. I looked at the watch 5:05 am. I peeped through the window to see the city glazing on lights. We passed by the stadium. There was a crowd near the stadium. I showed Rajesh the crowd and said that it seemed like we were late.
We went Ernakulam to see the India-Australia ODI match. We were 30 in a hired bus. Since we were a gang it was singing n dancing throughout the night. No one have had enough sleep. Our bus slowed down and it stopped a few metres away from the stadium. We boarded the bus entered a hotel to have breakfast. It was ramzan days and I had fasted. So I waited for others to finish off.
The stadium would be opened by 6 am. There were many selling hats, paintings, bands, flags, jersy and more. I also bought a round hat. Some where distributing pluck cards and banners. We went inside after waiting on a long quee checking and directing seats. As we were a gang we shouted and made our presence on the stadium. We sat together on the gallery. Both the team players came for practice. It was great moment seeing them on ground. They practised for a long time.
At nine both the team was on the field in uniform. Batting was for Australia. Since it was Sreesanth's home ground, there was a good wave for him on his bowling. It was an un forgetable experience watching the match so close. The boundaries, wickets, appeals, fielding and each element got its new means in my mind.
Due to the strong heat from sun and the previous day's night out I was very tired and was sleepy. Almost all were same. The Australian innings ended up on 308. It was lunch break. I had to wait again alone for others to return since I couldn't eat. I was sleeping almost the whole part of indian batting. When we realized that India cannot win we returned. Actually we were very bored and tired. We left in the evening.
Although i don't want to see a match again on galleries, let me say that it was a great experience seeing players infront of our eyes. Let me pay them my sincere gratitude for at least staying for a full day on hot sun. They are great indeed!!!
