The Judgement Day
I was lying on the bed trying to make a sleep. Time is 11:30 pm. Still I can't. I had switched off the light in my room and only the dining hall was lit. My parents were sitting there waiting for a phone call.
They were waiting for my 10th class result.
Ishaque told me that the results will be out tonight. As it was a CBSE school the results won't be published in the news paper. So we had to chose internet as the media. During that period internet had not made its effect on the society. A very few had heard about it and a few had used it. I didn't knew how to look for the result. When my father went to the street, he found one of my primary school teacher, Muneer. While talking to him he also included a topic upon me. When my father told I was waiting for the result and couldn't find it, Muneer sir told he would help out. After giving him the roll number father returned home. Then my mother and father started waiting near the phone. I couldn't sit with them. I was sure they would keep on asking about my expectations. So I went to my room and rested there.
Time was 11:55 . I was still awake on my bed. The phone rang suddenly breaking the big silence. My mother who was little sleepy woke up shocking. My heart started beating loudly. Father attended the call. It was from my uncle, Abbas who was working at Qatar. I was a bit happy. He talked for almost 10 minutes. When my father just disconnected the call, the phone rang again. Now it was Muneer sir. Father at once called me to attend him. He read out the marks I had scored. I noted them on a piece of paper. He also made his comment on my result.
I went to mother with the paper. They were eagerly waiting for it. Mother looked in to it and started asking about the subjects. I explained the corresponding subjects. She got angry upon the subjects with low marks. I made my own excuses. I also pointed the marks of other subjects. Any way that night came to an end. Next day I could get the results of my classmates and had a brief comparison. I gave sweets to my relatives and neighbors. It was a night of real tension and I never want to forget it..
