An act of Culture
DEC 6, 1992
The date made its sixteenth anniversary, but the importance of this day is much a part of Indian culture. This was the day when Babri Masjid, a mosque built in the 16th century was destroyed by fundamentalists. I still have some fading memories of the day. I was only 6 and a half years old then. Muslim blood was injected in me, and so I was really thinking like my parents did. I saw the pictures. I was continuously thinking why this act had taken place. I remember many in my locality who had kept red face for it. They were seeing the demolishing of the monument right in front of their face by thousands.
I often thought about the involvement of Politics and Religion in personal life. I think Babri Masjid is the best example for it. This incident will be remembered in Indian history. However stupid it may be, the Babri problem will remain a central issue of Indian politics for a long, long time.
Let everything stop by this. Try our best to make these people think in the way of Humanity. Never make another incident like this happen.
