Alumni Day


' How was the program?' I asked Sreehari. ' The participation was much lower than expected. Just the lunch, and a game. ' He stopped with these words.

Today was our Annual Alumni Day at school. I wanted to attend the function. But my busy exam schedule made me cancel it. I have an exam tomorrow and if I attend the function I will not reach for the exam in time. Another thing that happened for the decrease in participation was the date announcement. The date was just the starting of this week. So many who wanted to attended had to try for tickets and couldn't. I think the Alumni Committee didn't work efficiently this time. I often missed that campus which I had spent day and night for about 7 years. But whenever I try to attend the Alumni day function, somehow I will get engaged in some sort of business. This is the 4th alumni day after I became an Alumni. I couldn’t even attend a single of it. Sreehari who is still a resident in the campus, since he is the son of a staff, calls me on every Alumni Day. I will miss everything when he speaks about those who had attended and about the reaction of teachers. Then I will pledge myself to make for the next time. Then someone will share the pictures of the function on net. Seeing this again I will get a sad feeling to have missed those moments.

This time too I am not different I will try my best to attend the next Alumni. I will make maximum of my friends participate it.

Next train is at 2:40 pm. The man at the enquiry counter said. I looked at my watch. Another two hours more. Imperceptibly he added. There is a passenger train at 1:15 pm from the second platform. The game was in good progress. We had started to create a formation for making the goal. Each player had started to mark a player at the opponent and it made the game more interesting. It was just a 12 year herd playing a time pass football match. The ground was really tough for us to cop up with, the contour was fluctuating for the full length. The match was interrupted suddenly and I saw Arif and Ajith flooding to the right corner of the ground. I shouted at them and asked to get back in to the match. We got hardly an hour a day for games in the busy schedule of Navodaya,my school. I understood they were running a bit seriously, and i joined them. Luis Figo- Someone to admire!!

I was in 9th standard. It was the season when I had started to love football. And so I had started to see many major games on TV. I got familiarised with many teams and players. I enjoyed World cup and many good tournaments. One day Aneesh, my classmate told me about Figo. He said that Figo is a great player on the mid-fields. Later I saw his game and was amazed on his skills. I became a true fan of him and kept on watching his games. It was Euro'04. That too in Portugal. Al though I was a supporter of England, I wanted to see Figo win. Watching Portugal's game I thought they deserved the cup. They made their way on to the finals. Greece. The other finalists. On analysing their path I could find that they had just luckily entered to the finals. Praying for Portugal I sat infront of the TV. Figo played an amazing game. Made many good chances.
